Help Tovah the Rescue Pup Beat Heartworms & Escape a Broken System ❤️
This is Tovah — her name means “good.”
I didn’t mean to name her.
It was a typo, actually.
But it stuck.
And honestly? It was the truth.
She is good. So, so good.
A few days ago, Tovah wandered up to us — skinny, scared, and nearly hit by a car.
She had no collar, no chip, no tattoo. Just bones, eyes full of hope, and a tail that still wagged.
Nobody claimed her. The neighbors had seen her before but no one helped.
But we couldn’t turn away.
We already have our own dogs and weren’t planning to take in another — but she chose us. And something about her made it impossible to say no.
We brought her in, made her a safe place, and tried to give her peace.
Then came the vet visit… and the heartbreak.
Tovah is heartworm positive.
The treatment is expensive, intense, and long — but it works. And she’s young, strong, and full of life. She has a real chance.
We just need help getting her there.
Here in San Antonio, Texas, the shelter system is in crisis.
In 2023, the city lost its no-kill status.
Now, dogs like Tovah — sweet, adoptable, healthy — are euthanized every day.
Not because they’re aggressive.
Not because they’re beyond saving.
But because there simply isn’t enough space.
We said not this one. Not her.
We’re doing everything we can to keep her safe and calm while managing our home, our own dogs, our jobs, and our hearts — but we can’t afford her treatment alone.
If you’ve ever wanted to help a dog that had no one else…
this is your moment.

What the funds will go toward:
• Bloodwork and diagnostics
• Doxycycline & heartworm prevention
• The 3-injection adulticide treatment (melarsomine)
• Follow-up care, sedation if needed, and supportive medications
• Possibly X-rays or additional labs depending on her severity

We believe love still matters.
That kindness still counts.
And that good dogs deserve good people.
If you can donate — thank you.
If you can share — thank you.
If you just read this and held space for Tovah — thank you.
You’re part of her rescue story now.
With so much love and hope,
Angie, Tovah & Family ❤️
