Help this Homeless Mom Of Two
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kristin and I am asking that you give anything you can even $1 to help this mother of 2 wonderful children get a roof over her their head.
This is only my second Go Fund Me and I don’t put myself out there to help unless I feel it is urgent and I can help with the help of others to make a difference!
The above is the simple story, if you want to read more I’ll share how I met the family and the stream of unfortunate events that keeps this hard working momma (Kennesha) from getting ahead.
I had met Kornelius before from volunteering at my sons school Selwyn Elementary. He is one of my sons (Henry) best friends. I had heard his mother was a hard working mom at Wendy’s but knew little of anything else of Kornelius or his family.
After school last year Henry came
home sad moping and wasn’t himself. He wouldn’t talk to me about it but said “Kornelius has to move to GA. to stay with his grandfather.
With 2 weeks of school left and EOG’s still to take I struggled with that and wanted to know more and how could I help. I knew something wasn’t right. Henry said for hours, “ I keep asking Kornelius if he’s ok but he won’t respond”. So i took Henry’s phone and pretended I was henry and texted Kornelius “my mom said you can stay here until school is out so you can finish school”. Kornelius responded “thanks man”. Then we heard nothing.
The next day after school Henry said let’s go get Kornelius but you have to take his sister too…done and done. We headed over picked up the Kornelius and Krystal and learned that Kennesha was probably having a breakdown and literally needed a break.
I learned a lot during these 2 weeks. I won’t share everything. Kennesha was married to a good man, but he is not a good father and gives them zero help and he doesn’t see his children. Growing up in foster homes Kennesha has never really had a mother or a father and the grandmother she lived with for a short time was abusive.
Kennesha found herself in an abusive relationship and after ending it he became extremely violent and trying to protect her children from this man is the reason they were going to GA.
Kennesha rebounded and got a car and an apartment and was doing SO good until one day this past summer I got a panic call from Kornelius that they were in an accident and Kennesha was in an ambulance.
It was a hit and run and her car was totaled, the police found the driver and he had no insurance.
The slum apartment was a disaster.
The first months water bill was $600
from an unknown water leak under the house.
The apartment was infested with spiders (recluse?) i’ll post pictures, the stove didn’t work and it flooded with no help from the landlord. I even tried to step in to get help with the landlord with no luck. It was too much and too expensive so she went back
to a hotel wirh the kids.
A week ago to save money to pay for her car she decided she had to sleep in the car to be able to afford the car and insurance gas etc.
Kennesha is a hard worker! She literally works every day but at $15 an hour it’s hard to get ahead. She is sleeping in her car and falling asleep at work.
These kids are polite and say “yes ma’am” and Ms. Kristin and are genuinely sweet children…. they just need a break. Just enough to get her back on her feet.
If you can give anything to help I know she would forever be grateful!!! Kristin
