Help The Schow Family so Josh can heal.

Hi, My name is Abby Cross. I've been friends with the Schow Family for Three years now. Saturday Evening, there was incident with Josh Schow and I had wanted to make this for them earlier in the week but I after discussing with Jamie she wanted to wait given she was already dealing with so much. We decided that we would do this as soon as things had settled down some and there was more information and a plan in place, now I'm able to give them what I believe I could with the information Jamie has thoughtfully let me know.
On late Saturday April 10, Josh started to experience back pain. Jamie and one of her son's were massaging his back helping with back pain. he turned onto his back on the floor. Jamie asked if he needed a heating pad and if that would help. He said "yes that would help" Jamie went to get a heating pad when she returned his eyes were closed but she didn't think much of it because he had been working that day, he was in pain and it was late. Jamie was looking for a plug to reach him and set it up for him. When she told him that he needed to scoot over, she got no response. Jamie was quick to react and moved him over to his side. She was making sure that he was okay, when she saw something no person would ever want to see. Josh was laying there with blue ears and his tongue a purple-ish color, there was no movement and no pulse. One of Jamie and Josh's son's came running out when he heard her screaming both of them tried calling 911, Jamie couldn't even remember her passcode, It was a bit to much for her. Jamie was performing CPR when one of their son's ran over to the neighbor to try to get help. While Jamie was still trying to get a pulse. The neighbor is a nurse and she thankfully came over. As soon as she ran in she started to perform CPR on Josh. She was doing CPR when EMS arrived, She had worked so hard to get him back that she had broke two of his ribs. When EMS got there they took over with meds, shocking him and attaching the C PR machine, They worked on him at the house for awhile and after sometime they were telling Jamie to call some of her family because they were concerned he was gone after 15mins of CPR and no pulse, she had just gotten on the phone with her mom when she heard "we have a weak heartbeat, let's go!" They moved quickly to Hutchinson Health, where they proceeded to intubate. After they had intubated they proceeded to airlift him to Methodist Hospital. He was not breathing this entire time. Once in ICU he was put into a cooling machine and heavily sedated for 24 hours. They did this to stop his fever, help his brain, heart and lungs to repair themselves. Sunday morning they proceeded to bring him out of sedation, to check for signs of brain activity and got no response so they put him back in to sedation. There was a quite a bit of damage to his lungs from stomach acid entering his lungs. Monday they woke him up from sedation again to test the brain and there was still no response. Doctor's were concerned at this point telling Jamie to prepare herself in the even he doesn't wake up. They would only bring him out of sedation for a short period of time as they didn't want his body to do any work. Throughout Monday and Tuesday his lung function improved. It was Monday night that the kids and Jamie were able to talk to him while he was unconscious. Into the next morning his vitals were improving, Tuesday Morning, when they had brought him out of sedation again he had moved his arms but was not able to do the actual commands they asked of him and were unsure if Josh could hear them. Throughout the day they were decreasing sedation and on Tuesday night. He woke up thankfully ,However, that's when everything changed. He was unable to remember the family right away,it was hard for him to move, remember normal things such as his birthdate the month ect, and was extremely confused. The next couple of days were a struggle, Josh had made slow progress and was able to be brought out of the ICU. However this is still scary. On Thursday, Jamie was on the phone when I had walked in and she was discussing with the doctor what was happening. The doctor did not want Josh to leave because he had just gotten up a day ago. The doctor was very hesitant to let Josh go home. The doctor was firm when he told them what he can and can't do. He is not able to be alone, he can't drive, he can't make food, he is walking very slow, he can't hold the phone for very long. He isn't going to be able to work for a very long time. He also has PT and OT 4-5 times a week. The one thing that the doctor said that stuck with everyone is when Jamie and Josh were speaking to the doctor Thursday. The doctor said everyone that night did everything right and caught it quickly even so after such a huge cardiac event plus being down so long most times, when cases like Josh's come in there is a very slim to zero chance that patients have this sort of outcome, The doctor said that Josh was a Miracle.
This is going to be a long road and he is the only provider of income in the home. We are asking for any donation to help for the next few months. He does not have short term disability through his work. Jamie is working with a Social worker to get everything addressed and exercising the resources to help funds. They are only asking for some peace of mind to be able to help with keeping a roof over their heads and help them with the medical bills that are already piling up so they can focus fully on Josh's recovery
Anything you can spare to help this family is deeply appreciated and will be paid foward in the future that is something I know for sure. I would really appreciate it a lot because they have done so much for me in the past and I want to give back.
If you don't want to do it on here because of fee's. I will put down the PayPal and Venmo for them.
