Love and Support for The Montenegro Family

Surrounded by his loving family, David took his last breath on February 1, 2023 at 2:16 pm. After 21 years of friendship and love, Andreina bid a final farewell to the love of her life. Alani and Aliana must now learn to navigate life without their dad. David's parents have to bury their son. 

At 45 years young, David fought with everything he had. He endured all kinds of treatments, drugs and procedures. The strength David fought with came from the love of his girls, Andreina, Alani and Aliana. Every battle fought was to earn him one more hour, one more day with his girls. 

So many people have reached out to ask what we can do for the Montenegro family. The family that has left an indelible mark on all our hearts. There's no way to fix a broken heart, or bring a loved one back. But perhaps we can help ease their broken hearts by continuing to offer our support to them. 

On January 19, 2022, the lives of the Montenegro family was forever changed. Changed with 3 ominous words “David has Cancer”. Doctors found a mass in David’s esophagus, which was later officially diagnosed as stage 3 Esophageal Cancer. Three words and their lives are forever changed. 

The word Cancer means chemotherapy, radiation and surgery. Cancer treatment brings severe side effects- pain, nausea, vomiting, hair loss, and it steals time. Cancer does not care if you’re a father to two beautiful young daughters. Cancer takes and takes; it does not care and does not show mercy.

Sometimes, however, Cancer gives us hope. It can bring a community together. It can teach us to look for the Silver Linings. It can make us slow down and appreciate our friends and family and our time on this earth together.
