I am sorry to say, Chip lost his hard-fought battle with stomach cancer this morning. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate through this tough time. If you have already donated, your support is greatly appreciated.
Please share this post so that we can reach as many as possible to help this family out.
Hi everyone, thank you so much for your love and support. Your kindness and generosity have made an impact on Chip and The Long Family.
To help us reach our goal of $25,000, we would be so grateful if you could also share our fundraiser with your friends and family online or through direct message. Each share gives our fundraiser a push to those outside of our network, which increases our chances of hitting our goal.
Thank you again.
My name is Joey. Chip and I have been best friends since 2nd grade. He was always there for me when we were growing up and now I want to help him when he and his family need it.
The Long family is in a battle they were not anticipating. Their family and friends have rallied behind them assisting whenever possible.
In early 2022, Chip got a bad case of COVID. Chip was taking medications for an extended period of time trying to get over COVID and it ended up killing a lot of his stomach acids. In addition to COVID, Chip also has Celiac Disease. During 2022 and 2023, they thought they were battling COVID and Celiac. In late 2022, he was at a point he couldn't eat anthing but liquids. He lost over 100 lbs. In August of 2023, he was able to eat some rice and they thought they had turned the corner on the road to recovery. In December 2023, Chip began to throw up blood. In mid December 2023 he was taken to the ER to see what was going on. A scope was done and a large mass in his lower esophagus and upper stomach was discovered. The official diagnosis was Stage 4 Squamous Cell Carcinoma.
He has had numerous rounds of Chemotherapy. Chip recently went home where he is being cared for by his wife along with Home Health Care. His wife has decided to take FMLA to be able to stay at home and help care for her husband. Medical bills are adding up in addition to their normal day to day bills. Mayra has approximately 2 months of Sick and Vacation time left to draw from. After that, they will not have any income coming in, they could use any and all help they can get.
Thank you for your donation. If you would like to donate another way, please contact me or Mayra directly.
