Help the children of Kemoto, The Gambia
Hi everyone! My name is Knut and I am a 27 year old man from Norway. @knutsem on instagram
Currently I live a very fortunate and comfortable life in Oslo. I have a stable, high income job, and In my spare time I´m surrounded by my childhood friends, whom I love and trust.
Even though I am blessed, I still feel like there is something missing in my life.
So, I figured I´m going to turn my life upside down. I quit my job and resigned from my apartment, in order to be able to do volunteer work for longer periods of time.
With help from my good friend Martin Larsen (@captainbrimstone on Instragram), we are going to help the people of Kemoto, Gambia. Martin is an acknowledged sailor/globetrotter who recently sailed around the world alone, self supplied with food and never even as much as anchored up once.
He´s very handy, and is also a certified electrician. I also have some job experience as both a mechanic and technician. On one of Martin´s journeys he spent a few months in Gambia, and that´s how he met the wonderful and kind people of Kemoto.
Our goal and ambition is to raise enough money to be able to buy and assemble an electrical waterpump in the village, and hook it up to solar panels with batteries and inverters as there is no power in the remote Kemoto.
The roof of the local school also needs fixing, as there is a gap running through the middle, not being able to shield the children from getting wet during rainfall.
Martin is sailing from Norway in November 2025, and probably arrives in Gambia in December. He´s bringing a lot of clothes and other school supplies we have gathered for the children. Hopefully also a waterpump and solar panels if we can generate enough income for it.
I am going to fly down to Gambia 02.01.2026, and document all of the progress on various platforms. Will provide links to my social medias soon.
In order to make sure the money goes into the right hands, and is used properly, I will receive the money on my own private, but separate account.
I will be transparent with all expenses and fees, and show receipts for everything we buy.
We are both donating to this charity ourselves, and not a single dollar will be kept for either of us.
GoFundMe charges a fee of 2.9% + 0.30 Dollar on every transaction. This will be automatically deducted from your donation.
