Help Taryn Study Abroad

Hello Everyone!

My name is Taryn Gay and I am a Freshman Health Education Major with a concentration in Community Health at Howard University.

My interests include public health, social wellness, and equity. These interests uniquely are woven in the fabric of a service delivery model that breeds advocacy, especially in marginalized communities. The health of minorities and those who are underserved and underrepresented is largely ignored. I intend to be one voice who engages the support of a collective voice to improve not just physical health, but emotional, mental, and spiritual health. My goal is to promote health and wellness beyond the local community. I intend to be a Global Health Specialist and this opportunity will provide familiarity, experiential learning, discovery, and impact on a broader level.

With a study abroad experience, I can share and glean new perspectives, experience components of culture, and communicate readily in the language that I am currently studying. The economic, political, and social components of another country, region, and language will help groom the expansion of my skill set.

I have been selected and accepted to participate in my schools South Africa Study Abroad Program for 6 weeks this summer. I have received a fellowship to cover most of the cost however, I am still $2000 short. So, I am reaching out for help from family, friends, or anyone willing to aid in my dream in Studying Abroad. I hope that whoever is reading this will consider helping me reach my goal!
