Help Tamika restore and regain our community

I was born and raised in Newport News Virginia. I won’t say I wasn’t loved as a child, but I will say that I didn’t feel loved. I didn’t have a solid foundation where I could receive the support I truly needed to thrive. I didn’t have someone to mold me and guide me. Someone who really took the time to actually teach me. Because of these things I turned to the streets for love, affection, and acceptance. I know now that the streets don’t love nobody. The streets are here when you’re locked up in jail, and the streets will still remain when you’re dead and gone. My trials and tribulations is my testimony. I can’t change my past, but I can restore the present, and I can make a clear and promising path for my future and my children’s future, and generations to come. And so in doing this it’s going to take me being proactive, being determined, being dedicated. And that is what we need in the community. You can’t walk around saying you want change, you have to put in the work, you have to be proactive, you have to take action. So many of our youth are falling prey to crime, teen violence, and early drug addiction. And so it seems that if you are not academically or athletically inclined then your chance of being groomed for success is slim to none where I’m from. This is why I need all of you to donate to this go fund me account, so that I can restore the recreation center on Orcutt Ave. The center was first incorporated in 1919 and was a pillar in the community until it was abandoned in 2018. The center can be restored and provide resources, education, and guidance to our youth. Cater to our young mothers, and put a cap on child homelessness. My goal is to change the narrative so that our youth can excel and prosper. I can’t do this alone. I need the strength of the community behind me. Please donate what you can to this deserving cause.
