As many of you know, my daughter Tamarra and her husband Cody recently bought a new house, excited to make it their own. While they were working on kitchen renovations and tearing off wallpaper, a fire broke out in the basement early Thursday morning. Thankfully, no one was living there at the time, but the damage was devastating. The fire, believed to be electrical, was put out quickly thanks to vigilant neighbors and first responders, but the entire house is now a loss. Water damage in the basement, fire damage to the main floor, and smoke throughout have left them with nothing to salvage.
Cody, a hardworking dad, lost his tools in the fire, making it impossible for him to work right now. Their two kids and six-month-old baby lost essential items like a crib, jumper, and a brand new pack and play, which were at the house for the renovation. The family is currently living in a house they had planned to rent out to help pay the mortgage on their new home, but with the fire, two mortgages, and property taxes coming up, they are struggling. Insurance will help eventually, but it could take a while, and they need support now.
Adding to the challenge, their son has severe allergies and asthma. The smoke from the fire has seeped into the Sheetrock, making it unsafe for him to return home until the house is torn down to the studs and rebuilt. This has made an already difficult situation even harder for the family, as they work to keep him safe and healthy.
Tamarra and Cody are the kind of people who would do anything for anyone, and now I’m asking our community to rally around them. Even a share of this fundraiser will help. If you’ve already donated, thank you so much for your support during this incredibly hard time. We’re combining efforts to make sure everyone who wants to help can reach them. Your kindness and generosity mean the world to our family.
