Help Support Lissy's Fight Against Cancer

Donation protected

Hello everyone, my name is Sarah and I am Lissy's sister in law. As many of you know, Lissy and Francis are expecting another beautiful baby girl who is due in September. Over the last couple of months Lissy had been experiencing sudden, unexplained bruising, fatigue, and headaches. She expressed her concerns to her OB who referred her to a Hematologist. They began treating her with IV iron, but less than a week after the infusion, her symptoms only worsened. She was immediately sent to the ER and then transferred to Indianapolis for a bone marrow biopsy and further testing. Last week she received the news that she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia which is a rare cancer of the blood and bone marrow.

My brother Francis has been by her bedside the whole time. He and our entire family are devastated by Lissy's diagnosis. Lissy and Francis have been away from their daughters and their entire support system because the hospital is so far from home. To make matters more complicated, because he just started a new job, he is only qualified for Special Leave without pay. He has been in the hospital 24/7 helping to care for and support Lissy and baby girl throughout her treatment. Because baby is only 27 weeks old, she is at great risk for complications associated with chemotherapy, and will be monitored closely throughout Lissy's treatments. My brother and Lissy are terrified, nervous, and anxious but are doing their best to stay positive and strong for their whole family, especially for their 3 girls.

This week, we took their 2 girls to visit her, as she had not seen them for a week. She wanted to tell them what is going on with her in person. The girls have been eagerly awaiting mom's return home and have been asking to see her, calling her daily. We took them in person so that they could visit her and Francis. It was heartbreaking to hear Lissy tell them that mommy would not be coming home soon because the doctors had to help make her better and make sure their new baby sister would be ok. I cannot imagine how difficult this must be for Lissy and my brother as well as the girls.

After genetics testing, the doctors informed Lissy that along with her chemotherapy treatment, she will also require a stem cell transplant to increase her chances of survivial. As Lissy undergoes her treatment, baby Maya Jae will be monitored closely due to her risk for being born prematurely as a complication of Lissy's treatments. As a result, Lissy and Francis expect to be in the hospital for at least the next 3 months. Because of this, I have created this GoFundMe to help support them financially during this time. Your support will help them to cover medical treatment costs, housing, food, and other related expenses for my brother and his family during this extremely difficult time. We ask that if you cannot donate, please share this page and help us to support Lissy and family as they battle this terrible disease. We thank you so much in advance for all of the love and support that you have provided to them and are grateful for anything you can donate. We also ask that if you cannot donate, if you could please please keep Lissy and her entire family in your daily prayers. We ask God for His guidance, support, and

strength during this difficult time.
