Addison Moutaw's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
In 2016, after the Moutaw's noticed Addison had developed a tic disorder, they took him in for what they thought would be a standard MRI to rule out brain damage which they thought may have been causing his tics. No brain damage was found, however, the Doctor found a .9mm colloid cyst in Addison's brain. The Moutaw's were told they would have to keep an eye on the cyst and watch for growth. Therefore, Addison has undergone an MRI every 6 months since the cyst was found in 2016.

After Addison's routine scan in January 2024, the Doctor discovered the cyst had increased drastically in size reaching 15mm. The moment the Moutaws had been dreading had arrived. Due to the rapid growth of Addison's cyst, the Doctor informed the Moutaws that Addison would have to undergo brain surgery to remove the cyst before it got any larger, and avoid the cyst from becoming inoperable.

Addison will undergo endoscopic brain surgery on April 1, 2024 to have the cyst removed. After the surgery, Addison will remain in the ICU for 3-5 days to receive around the clock care while he recovers from surgery. Addison’s surgery is several hours away from home in Fontana, CA so the Moutaws will have to stay in a hotel near the hospital until Addison is released. Once Addison is cleared to go home, Bret and Taylor will have to provide around the clock care for Addison for approximately 4-6 weeks which will enable both of them from working.

The Moutaws are always the first people to help our community and give back, especially in our baseball community. Now is our time to rally around the Moutaws and give back to them during their time of need. All the money raised will help the Moutaws avoid any financial stress during the next couple of months and allow them to focus all of their time and energy on Addison and his recovery.

As many of you know, Addison just started his last year of little league and is looking forward to coming back to compete in all stars. Addison also plans to go to Cooperstown, NY and play baseball with his travel team in August. Addison is the toughest kid I know, and he has endured more in the last 11 years of his life than any kid should ever have to. If you are not able to make a donation, I ask that you keep Addison and the entire Moutaw family in your thoughts and prayers in the coming weeks. No donation is too small and every penny is going to an amazing boy and his family so he can get back to doing what he loves, which is playing baseball with all of his buddies!
