My name is Emily, and I am fundraising on behalf of my mom’s longtime upstairs neighbors, Stephanie and her 10-year-old daughter, Harper.
My mom lived underneath Stephanie and Harper for years, until a debilitating stroke left her unable to live independently. Stephanie recently separated from her partner, who had been the primary breadwinner, for the safety of herself and her daughter. She also unfortunately lost one of her jobs this summer due to fallout from that separation. Thankfully, her full-time job has just started up again — but she’s three months behind on rent and facing eviction if the balance isn’t paid in full by September 28th.
Stephanie can now cover ongoing rent with her full-time income, but she cannot come up with thousands of dollars all at once to cover back rent all by herself. Without our help, this little family could lose their home just as they’re regaining their footing.
Why This Matters
Everyone deserves a safe and stable place to call home — especially children. Harper should be able to focus on school, friends, and being a kid, not on whether she and her mom will be forced to leave their home. Stephanie has fought incredibly hard to keep her daughter safe. Right now, she just needs some extra help to bridge the gap.
What We Need
- Three months of back rent (due Sept 28) to stop the eviction process.
- Stretch goal: An additional $950 to cover October rent & help them get ahead.
Beyond rent, any additional funds raised will help cover groceries, utilities, and other essentials as Stephanie continues to re-stabilize her life as a single mom.
