Help Stan and Marla Romine Overcome Medical Challenges
Spende geschützt
Six years ago, Stan Romine was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. His lung condition became progressively worse as time has passed, especially since having Covid.
Marla his wife has had cancer which is now in remission, but there is also ongoing medical care for her which puts a strain on the family both financially and emotionally.
Back to Stan, in August 24, he was hospitalized due to low oxygen in his body. He was advised by his pulmonary doctor that he could possibly qualify for a lung transplant if he met criteria. After extensive testing, he was approved by the lung transplant team at the Ohio State University/Wexner and Ross Heart Hospital. Stan was put on the National Lung Transplant list for a single lung transplant. They did get a call a few weeks ago but the donor lung was not healthy enough for a transplant. On March 8th 2025 they received a second call a healthy lung was a match. They were told to check in at 3:00pm Sunday the 9th for surgery on Monday the 10th. The surgery went well, the lung is functioning and we are all thankful and blessed. However the follow up care leads to many unexpected and ongoing expenses. Once Stan is well enough to leave he has to stay within 30 miles of the hospital. They currently live 43 miles away. So housing will need to be found close to the hospital and paid for, possibly for up to three months, there is the daily parking fees on top of maintaining their home expenses. Stan will require someone to be with him at all times for quite some time in the future. Doctors have told us they can expect 3 to 5 appointments each week for up to a year after he returns home, that is a lot of gasoline and parking fees.
Anything and everything we can do is worth the second chance at life with a new lung for Stan. Marla, Stan’s wife will be the main caregiver. Most of the stress will be on her. Marla is a giver, a good person who’s there for everyone and shows up and helps anyone out that needs something. She is the first to volunteer aid to people in need.
We are people who love and care about both Stan & Marla, if you’re able to donate and help them out we’re grateful and thankful. You may donate electronically through this go fund me or you could mail a card or a donation.
