Help Single Mom Retain Lawyer

I am a struggling, working single mom who needs help raising funds to retain a lawyer as I am being taken to court and am fighting against a child support decrease that will not support my son. The outcome of how things go in court potentially could very negatively affect my ability to provide for him.

My ex is trying to recalculate the support payment based upon his current Air Force retirement, which is half of his original income. This is not legally permissible under South Carolina law, as he is a 40-year old with high skills and training, and he should be subjected to a rate based on what SC law calls, “voluntary underemployment,” and calculated on what he SHOULD BE earning. The problem is, he knows that I cannot afford to fight this new move in court. But, I have to, otherwise he will only have to pay $87 per month — while just my fuel expenses in picking my son up from visitation greatly exceeds that amount. Much less everything else involved with raising an eight year old, active, growing boy.

Any and all help toward enabling me to fight this will be immensely appreciated!!
