Help Sims Raiders Showtime

Sims Raiders Youth organization is a community based non-profit organization established in 1968 that focuses on empowering and guiding the underprivileged youth in Northeast Ohio through sports and education. We provide a comprehensive sports program that offers coaching and training in various athletic disciplines. We combat mental health by promoting physical fitness, building self-esteem, teamwork and leadership skills in a positive social environment. Keeping student athletes engaged in our programs year round has been proven to provide a focus that encourages students to stay on a collegiate path after high school.

The Cleveland, Ohio Municipal school district is home to over 98,134 public school students and 25,213 private school students. That means 80 percent of all k-12 students in Cleveland, Ohio are educated in public schools and many of them do not have access to quality sports programs due to socio-economic constraints. The lack of physical activity coupled with increasing rates of obesity and mental health issues are alarming. Since 2017 Gun violence has nearly doubled for people under the age of 18. We believe this is due to a lack of positive activity in the community. Our program aims to address these issues by offering an avenue for physical activity, teamwork, education, leadership, and healthy competition.

The requested funds will be used for sports equipment purchase, hiring additional coaches, conducting workshops, field rentals, gym rentals, travel and program promotion. This will also benefit our program with budget allocations for the 200 student athletes that participate every year.
