Help Me Grow Plant Parenthood CLE

Hi. I’m Shelby, and I’m building something that’s been growing in my heart for years. Plant Parenthood CLE is more than a plant shop. It’s a dream rooted in wellness, connection, and the belief that joy, education, and healing should be accessible to everyone.

Three years ago, I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Like most life-altering things, it came out of nowhere. It taught me quickly and permanently that time isn’t promised. But it also reminded me what I wanted more of: community, creativity, purpose, and dirt under my nails.

While I still work full-time in a role I love, I’m also pouring everything I have into launching PPCLE, a space where people can explore a new relationship with nature and themselves, one plant at a time.

Plant Parenthood CLE will offer:

• Retail plant sales, rentals, and gifting

• Hands-on workshops and repotting events

• Wellness-centered experiences like “Grow & Flow” yoga

• A vibrant loyalty program built on support and play

• And, in year one, a nonprofit wing dedicated to connection and community care

The nonprofit mission includes:

• Urban gardening and food insecurity programming

• Partnerships with local schools and organizations

• A scholarship program that provides funding for Clevelanders who are ready to pursue a new skill, hobby, or creative path but wouldn’t otherwise have the means. Whether it’s a pottery class or a career certification, our goal is to help people reconnect to purpose and possibility.

I am asking for $113,600 to bring this vision to life with transparency, creativity, and a deep love for this city.

This funding will help cover:

• Renovation and setup of a retail space in Cleveland’s Larchmere neighborhood

• Inventory, workshop supplies, and delivery equipment

• Marketing, branding, and community launch events

• Initial staffing and operations

• Nonprofit program development and the first round of community scholarships

I’ve spent the last decade helping others grow their businesses. Now I’m finally building my own with a mission that is deeply personal and a plan that’s already growing roots.
