Hello everyone. My name is Kelly Macnab and I am asking for help in supporting my friend Shauna Brown as she battles colon cancer.

Tragedy first struck Shauna's family in 2017 when her 25-year-old son Demal was fatally shot in her driveway while Shauna and her daughters were home and Demal's daughter was playing across the street. Since her son's death Shauna has worked tirelessly to bring awareness around child loss and the prevention of gun violence.

In May 2021, Shauna was diagnosed with stage 2 colon cancer. Her treatment plan included six rounds of chemotherapy to shrink the tumor by 60%. Next month Shauna will undergo surgery to remove the tumor, which includes a hysterectomy. There will then be a further six rounds of chemotherapy, combined with radiation. This course of treatment will take approximately a year to complete.

In the midst of all this, Shauna was given notice that the owner of the house she and her girls moved to for a fresh start after Demal's death, is selling and her family needs to move by the end of October. As of today, October 17th, she has not been able to secure housing.

Shauna currently receives CPP and is long-term disability from her job benefits, while supporting herself and her two children, the oldest who just turned 20 and attends college in Buffalo on a full scholarship.
