Help Sharif and his family resettle in Canada

Donation protected

Hello. Perhaps you read some of the ground-breaking work done by Globe and Mail journalists when Canada was at war in Afghanistan. Perhaps you know a journalist who reported from that country. I would like to introduce you to the man who was the right hand of every Globe reporter sent to report on that mission. His name is Mohammed Sharif Sharaf. We know him as Sharif. He kept us safe. He translated for us. He took us to places we could not have gone without him. He risked his life for us. We called him our brother. We still call him that. Sharif and his wife and his five children escaped from Kabul, with the help of the Ukrainian military, this past weekend. Because he did that work for us during the war years, his life and the lives of his family members were in grave danger once the Taliban took over the country.  You can read about his escape here https://www.theglobeandmail.com/world/article-ukraine-leads-daring-rescue-of-canada-bound-afghans/ The Canadian government says he can come to Canada. But his family will need money for rent and food and clothing. I know Sharif. I know he will adapt to his new home and be an asset to this country, just as he was as asset - and a friend - to me and all the other Globe reporters in Afghanistan. I am asking you to please give what you can to help him and his family start his new life. And to thank him for his service.
