Help Send Moebius To USAC Regionals & Beyond!

Four years ago, my friend John noticed that my daughter Moebius was constantly climbing things in the house, and suggested I take her rock climbing.

Now, rock climbing is her passion, and she climbs as much as possible. This past fall, Moeby joined the Central Rock Gym Syracuse's youth competition team, and has competed in several of the local competitions. Moebius easily qualified for Regionals, which is coming up December 7 and 8, and has a good chance of moving on to Divisionals, which will be held January 12 and 13 of 2019.

I strive to support my daughter in her passions, and at this point there is not much else Moebius wants to do other than climb. I can see her going very far with this!

This team has been a huge commitment of time and money for me, as I transport Moebius to and from the gym up to four or five times a week, to and from her competitions; and cover costs for the team, Moeby's gym membership, registration fees for the competitions, and climbing shoes and accessories.

Luckily, our gym has helped make Moeby's participation in the team possible by offering her a scholarship rate for team and gym membership. In addition, my friend John has helped us greatly by allowing me to borrow his car for transportation to and from competitions (my car burns a quart of oil a week and is in no shape for long car trips), as well as helping us out with transportation costs.

I was surprised to find that the registration fee for the USA Climbing Regional competition is quite high - $125. This is more than I can manage at the moment, and am anxiously wondering what the cost will be for Divisionals, if Moebius qualifies. In addition, if applicable, Nationals will be in Oregon in early February of 2019, which will require a flight and hotel in addition to the cost of registration. 

This is Moeby's passion, and I will do whatever I can to support her dreams and help her advance in her training and development as a competitive female climber in a very exciting sport, which will also be a new Olympic sport in Tokyo in 2020!! We love our climbing friends and community - rock climbing is a lot of fun and climbers are generally down to earth, friendly people.

Anything you or somebody you know may be able to contribute is greatly appreciated!  We plan to follow up with each person who contributes to our campaign with photos, videos, and an account of how Moebius climbed at Regionals and beyond. Any funds raised that are not used to carry Moebius through the end of her 2018 Fall Bouldering season will be applied to her 2019 Spring Sport and Speed youth competition fees and costs.
