Help Save The Little Play Co

We have created this Go Fund Me in support of local business we love and a close friend that needs our help. These are certainly unprecedented times but one thing we haven’t lost is our commitment to support each other and our community; we are Hoboken, after all. 

The Little Play Co is simply, committed. They are devoted to our children, our families and our needs as a community. It’s a place for kids to escape the confines of our small urban apartments and let their imagination take the wheel. A place for friends of all ages to meet and play. It’s a place where our families can attend fun, thematic, seasonal and special events together; cookie decorating, egg hunts, gingerbread house making, birthday parties - the sky is the limit!  The Little Play Co finds value in little celebrations that make life fun and magical.  By creating a beautifully designed kid size village that mirrors our Mile Square, it inspires our kiddos to appreciate and value the day to day tasks in life and develop a sense of community. They welcome our littlest "littles" with an incredible Pre-K Prep program that gives our two and three year olds the confidence and security they need to LOVE school. TLPC also offers enrichment and after-school  classes that kids are genuinely excited about. "Open Play" is another fixture in our community on any given day... rain or shine. Moreover, the TLPC team is constantly thinking outside the box and striving to deliver special experiences for families to enjoy together. There is truly something for everyone, and you're greeted with a smile and more often than not, a hug... every, single visit. 

It comes as no surprise that the owner of The Little Play Company, Tamara Soru or “Tam” as we call her, is just as amazing as the beautiful space she has built from scratch. She is a mom to two sweet boys and has lived in Hoboken for 18 years. You will not meet a more genuine person or someone more passionate about her work.  Tam is unbelievably talented. Her creativity is unparalleled. Nothing is off limits.  Her energy and positivity is infectious. She works tirelessly on every detail of every event,  ensuring that every child walks into a room filled with pure magic. She is selflessly devoted to bringing joy into people's lives daily and on their special occasions.

In the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, small businesses everywhere are struggling to stay afloat. The Little Play Co was forced to close in March. While Tam was busy brainstorming ways she could salvage the business  she had worked so hard to create, she received another devastating blow that threatened not only her livelihood, but her life. In early March she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Tam now has not only been tasked with fighting for the viability of her business but is also fighting to save her own life. As her good friends, we see the overwhelming burdens that these two hardships have caused her and it is our goal is to alleviate some of that stress. TLPC needs help so Tam can focus more of her energy on recovery.  We want to ensure TLPC continues to call Hoboken it's home when all of this is behind us.
