Help Save the Acme Legion Branch 76

Hello my Name is Marina,

I am reaching out today looking for support for our Acme Legion.

The Royal Canadian Legion Acme Branch 76 of Acme Alberta is fighting to recover from Covid. Being closed since Covid hit, we took another blow in early February 2022 when we suffered a severe plumbing related flood. It started on the upper floor of our building and trickled down, ending up destroying the basement and heavy damage upstairs.

This flooding has devastated the facilities’ ability to function. Currently insurance has turned the claim down and it has left us fighting to keep our Legion open in the community.

After being a part of the community for 93 years our membership is fighting to keep it here for another 93 years.

The Acme branch is seeking your assistance in helping with the much-needed repairs to our building.

Though the local membership is committed to this important work which would facilitate the full resumption of its efforts on behalf of not only our honored Veterans but the area including, Scholarship / Bursary programs for local students, support to youth clubs, seniors, families in our area, local affordable meeting place for the local communities, and a place to gather and enjoy our neighbors. We are lacking the full resources needed to make this a reality.

We have spent many volunteer hours working with what we can and are committed to continue fighting our way through it until our goals are met. Though this work will be challenging, and is likely take a significant amount of time, we are certain that a facility such as ours will be of great value to the growing needs of our developing area including its residents, other service groups, and businesses.

We are currently focusing on the upper floor of the Branch to more quickly get back up and running.

Our urgent need now is to raise the funds needed to cover the emergency cost associated with the restoration company brought in to clean up the water and dry out the building. We desperately need the help of everyone in order to be successful. funding needed currently is $39,685.18.
