Help Save 84 Yesler

"Food without borders.  Kitchen with no walls."  This is the philosophy that Sam Takahashi created when opening a new restaurant in Pioneer Square in 2018.  He knew that the relationships to his customers were as important to the relationship between the chef and food,  and wanted to bridge that gap.  In fact, you can say it's been his life philosophy to combine business and friendships, loyalty and passion,  and of course food, all together into a harmonious synchrony.   He wanted to fulfill his life long dream and passion of owning his own restaurant: a restaurant that brought delicious high quality ingredients and food, at an exceptional standard with exceptional service, in a place where patrons felt welcomed into a chef's home.  In opening the restaurant, Sam also wanted to pass his knowledge, wisdom, and philosophy onto the next generation of Restauranters to continue that commitment as a sort of legacy.   With 84 Yesler's notable and talented Chef, Shawn Applin,  and management style of Michael Don Rico, the team's combined talents made this idealization of this philosophy into a realization.  Gradually, 84 Yesler was getting on the Seattle restaurant map, with lots of great reviews and consistent press.

Then the pandemic came.  Small business owners, the service and art industry, and restaurants were disproportionately hit.  Now, 9 months later, the restaurant is having to face some devastating losses and potentially devastating decisions.  I suppose you can consider this post as a way to shine a beacon of hope, for some miracle to help save a man with a lifelong dream that was coming to fruition, from having to give up; not yet.  He has held on patiently day by day, in order to keep things going, to keep his staff and team together as best he can, but now, he can't do it alone.  So I'm asking our community to come together so that 84 Yesler can continue to serve it's community.   Sam Takahashi through his life has extended his hand and offered everyone he's encountered friendship, jobs, business and travel opportunities, business and personal advice, generosity, and of course, food to fill your tummy and hearts.

If you have it within your means to offer a donation, thank you.  If you don't, if you can just share this post, this fundraiser, thank you!  If you want to go and order from the restaurant website for take out, thank you (of course, take out is not the same experience as dining there).  Otherwise, thank you for taking the time to read this story, and happy tidings, happy holidays, stay safe, and stay healthy.  We will get through this!  #smallbusinessrelief
