Be Santa for Chicago Kids 10-14

As most of you know - I adopt a school every year…. my objective is to simply insure that every kid as shoes without holes, a coat to walk to school in, gloves and socks and some small token of gift for the Holidays. These are great kids - doing well in school and deserve the basic essential (not to mention a little magic if we can swing it). Rhonda the Leading Teacher there - assesses every single student and their situation and personally divvy all gifts (takes a while!). These kids are grades 6-8… we have 140 of them…
I need your help to be sure they are warm and happy for Christmas - feel free to buy a coat or winter boots or socks or a football or purse or some kids first shaving / nail polish set. Rand and I go shopping 3-4 times - I am happy to do the shopping for you if you just want to offer a donation - every bit helps. I am committed to covering every kid and offering a small donation for anything we missed! if you are local and want to join me - have at it!

FROM RHONDA: Here's a little bit about my babies at Perspectives (8131 S.May):
Perspectives Middle Academy is located in the heart of Chicago's Auburn Gresham neighborhood, and has an enrollment of 140 students in grades 6-8. Our students come from over the city-- most using public transportation or walking, where we provide a safe and positive learning environment. Each year as the weather changes, it is heartbreaking to see our students brave the cold elements without the proper garments to keep them warm. Each morning, we let our students in as soon as they arrive, no matter how early, because of this fact. Many of our parents simply cannot provide these basic necessities, let alone purchase gifts at Christmas time.
But last year, we were able to make a difference. EVERY SINGLE STUDENT that was in need of a coat/hat/gloves/boots received them, thanks to the generosity of you and your network of angels. The smiles on the faces of our kids as they received these items was priceless. I cannot begin to express what a tremendous impact this made. But that's not all! Every kid deserves a little joy at Christmas and we brought joy in the form of the many gifts we wrapped and distributed! We created our own Winter Wonderland, and each student enjoyed hot chocolate and treats, before receiving their beautifully wrapped goodies. Each child felt cherished, and that was evident. We are so grateful that we were chosen.
