Help Sandie get to the Global Peace Summit!

My name is Sandiswa. I am a young South African studying Commercial Law.

I recently applied to attend the World Peace Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and was accepted. The Summit will be from the 26th to the 29th of February 2020.

Though my application to attend was successful, unfortunately my application for funding was denied.

My motivation to attend the summit stems from my passion for educating the African girl child.  Growing up, my mother (a teacher) instilled in me the value of education for women and young girls especially because she has first hand experience with disadvantage children. She has shared sad stories of teenage pregnancy and child headed households that sparked an interest of how I could help create awareness.
I am particularly interested in how women and children are empowered from disadvantaged backgrounds to be economically and intellectually engaged, how femicide is rising in our society and what is being done to protect women?
What will it take to socialise men against unhealthy behavioural patterns which perpetuate violence (in all forms) ? 

We continue to live in war zones that leave women and children destitute and statistics show that, they are more affected by volatile circumstances. It will be a great opportunity to engage with other young people on these views, especially on how we can help our communities in this regard.

I am excited to learn and to impart the knowledge I will acquire to be a good representative of the community I come from.
