Help Ruth & Joe Mazurowski after Devastating House Fire
Donation protected
My name is Joanne Roday and I am the daughter of Ruth and Joe Mazurowski (ages 78 and 80), of 30 Mount Keys Drive, Bryson City, NC. On October 20th, 2024, around 6pm, their home of almost 50 years caught fire and they lost everything. My father was taken to Memorial Mission Hospital with Carbon Monoxide Poisoning, Smoke Inhalation, and other heart and stroke symptoms. My mother is disable (he is her sole caregiver) and she had to be taken to the Asheville hospital the next day. They both spent the next week in the hospital, then were transferred to a rehab facility (Mountain View Manor, Bryson City, NC), which is where they are now.
We are incredible blessed that they are alive and will be fine, but they lost everything.... clothes, furniture, dishes, food, memories...everything. They had 2 vehicles, which were both severely damaged in the fire.
I have been travelling between my home (Clover, SC) and their home, trying to find resources. I had hoped that we could receive help with FEMA since they are assisting with the Helene victims, but I was told that they would ONLY help the people affected by the hurricane. I have found a couple of resources for basic supplies and possibly clothing.
My mother was born and raised in Bryson City, NC and my father immigrated from Poland in the 80’s and became a proud citizen of the USA. They are both hardworking, Christians and have always given to their community. They need your help now.
There is never a good time for this to happen, but it is definitely harder this close to the holidays. They have a long road to recovery, both physically and from the loss of their home. Any donation would be greatly appreciated by my parents. Thank you in advance and God Bless.
