Help Ronan's Medical Expenses
Spende geschützt
On Tuesday, August 9th Ronan experienced a seizure-like episode and was admitted into St. Mary's hospital. Over the next few days, he had two more episodes and underwent a series of diagnostic tests.
His blood work, MRI, and EKG came back clean. Pending the results of his EEG, the doctor's tentatively diagnosed Ronan with Sandifer's Syndrome. Sandifer's is a type of aggressive acid reflux that can present like seizures.
Unfortunately, the relief was short lived as Ronan's EEG results came back abnormal. He tested abnormal on two different waveforms - one showed that he is at higher risk of seizures and the other suggested that he had recently experienced some swelling of the brain. Ronan continued to experience these seizure-like episodes.
Rikki and Ronan were Flight-For-Lifed to Children's hospital in Denver in the middle of the night between Friday, August 12 and Saturday, August 13. He is being monitored around the clock by a team of neurologists as they try to diagnose the cause of his episodes.
A more extensive EEG revealed that one side of Ronan's brain is firing more slowly than it should, and the other side is experiencing spikes of irritability. He is also not behaving in a way that is developmentally appropriate for a baby his age, and his eyes do not track objects appropriately or respond to stimuli like they should.
So far, we have more questions than answers.
While Ronan is in the best care possible, Ronan's parents are away from home and unable to work while they care for their son. This GoFundMe is intended to help alleviate their financial burden and will help cover living expenses, medical bills, food, and travel between home and Denver.
