Highmore Health, our local nursing home, sustained major damage in today’s storm. Winds equivalent to a category 4 hurricane reaching 130+ mph have torn off the roof and damaged windows. Thankfully all residents and staff were uninjured. Residents have been evacuated! Funds will be used to help make repairs, replace equipment and residents’ belongings.

The nursing home was purchased by the city and placed into a nonprofit to prevent closure. This is a locally owned facility that does not rely on a large corporation.
