FRIENDLY FARE needs your help because we find ourselves, like our clients, with a vision and a plan, but without place to execute it and with limited funds to make it happen. We are in urgent need of capital to secure new facilities and refit them to our purposes. The building we were in for 7 years was placed under order by the City for remediations and we were forced to leave. Thinking that we were going to be able to return when remediations were complete, we naively drained our reserve funds trying to help save the building from the threat of closure. However, despite a new lease, we are now homeless (kitchenless, to be precise), and 6 full-time clients and a dozen more part-time clients lost their licenced kitchen space(s) in which they were actively growing and building their culinary dreams. We have been advised that because the landlord let his insurance lapse, we have no recourse other than to sue civilly. This is not a realistic option. So, we forgive him. And with your assistance we will use this experience to rebuild FRIENDLY FARE into something even better than it was. Will you help us help our community once again?
Friendly Fare is passionate about helping the little guy (sic) -without regard to acquiring vast wealth and profit for itself.
Our passion is promoting and incubating the success of others. This is not altruism; we get a huge kick out of seeing our clients' businesses ideas germinate, grow and bloom. Sometimes, success means failing in a safe space and not losing everything. This is what we've done for over a decade and what we would like to continue to offer to the community.
FRIENDLY FARE has offered affordable, licenced, commercial kitchen space since 2013. While there are other facilities that also rent kitchens, we provide value-added benefits that no-one else does; no-cost Culinary Consultation from a team of Hospitality Service Professionals with a combined 125 years in the industry covering everything from Fine Dine to Food Trucks and everything in between. Friendly Fare is not interested in churning cheap rental kitchen space -we provide everything you need to get started ~you just need to bring your valid Food Handlers' Certificate and a delicious dream. Friendly Fare is committed to investing in every client that uses our facilities to ensure that when they leave us, they will add back that value to the community, having had the opportunity to develop capital while developing best practices with confidence.
HOW WILL YOUR MONEY BE SPENT?:
Approximately $8-10k will be spent on securing facilities.
Approximately $2-4k will be spent on permits/licencing and admin
Approximately $15-30+k will be spent on refit/rebuild/leasehold improvements
Excess Donations will be used to fund
• Improvements to equipment and facilities
• Unexpected expenses
• Possible expansion to assist more clients
The funds will NOT be used for:
• Personal expenses
• Décor other than what is required for health and safety requirements
• Marketing, Promotion or Advertising of any kind
