Full Potential, Afghans Empowered, and Middle East Matters have partnered with a grassroots organization in Turkey, Josoor International, to send basic care packages to refugees in Northern Turkey.
The EU may have declared the migration crisis over but the flux of migrants didn't disappear. The conditions forcing them to flee have not changed. And with 3.7 people, Turkey currently hosts the largest number of refugees. How'd Turkey end up with so many refugee? —well, that's where "push backs"come in. Greek authorities are currently under investigation for allegations made by asylum seekers and humanitarian organizations of forcing migrants to return to Turkey —a violation of international law. These “push backs," as they are called, experience unimaginable conditions. Push backs have faced major human rights violations - including unlawful detention, abuse, and torture - at the hands of Greek authorities.
Why Josoor:
Josoor is a member of a coalition of humanitarian organizations that are collecting evidence about the “pushbacks” to present to the EU Human Rights Commission. We've partnered with them to supply aid to victims of these push backs and other refugees who are experiencing economic hardship. At the basic level, a care package can help sustain a family to nourish themselves and keep themselves clean. Every human being deserves this dignity.
Basic care packages such as these can go such a long way for people without a home to their name, let alone a stable source of income to meet their basic needs. For just a little over $52 USD, a family of four can be supplied with a month’s worth of food - fruit, vegetables, eggs, milk, and non-perishables. Even $5.20 USD can provide women with necessary hygiene supplies, and $20.56 USD can purchase multiple basic hygiene supplies, such as soap, toothpaste, shampoo, and more.
At the basic level, a care package can help sustain a family to nourish themselves and keep themselves clean. Every human being deserves this dignity.

$20.56 General NFI package: (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, moisturizer, deodorant, disinfectant, disposable masks, cloth masks, detergent, comb, towels, bandaids $5.20 covers Women’s Basic Care package (pads)
$32.12 USD Food for 1 person per month:
(rice, pasta, oil, beans, lentils, canned vegetables, canned tuna, fresh seasonal vegetables, citrus fruits, salt and sugar, tea, milk, nuts and seeds, eggs, and dates)
$56.81 USD Food for family of 4 per month
(the previously listed grocery items but in higher quantities to accommodate the family)
$41.18 USD Clothing for men, women, and children
(socks, underwear, shoes, long-sleeved shirts, sweatpants, jackets, pullover, jeans, skirts)
We’ve partnered with Josoor*, an international solidarity organization for refugees, who will help us distribute these care packages to people on the ground in refugee camps in Turkey. Afghans Empowered will be collecting all donations and sending it directly to Josoor to purchase the care packages for distribution.
