Help Recover $2,000 Lost in Website Scam

Long story short...the attempt to recover the old Salem Spectator website resulted in me wasting a bunch of money and not believing the guy who said he was working on it actually delivering the files. I ended up giving up and started the new site for free on the ProBoards forum we are now using. But now I'm out $2,000 after I added up all of the PayPal transfers I made to the supposed "white hat tech guru" Magtech on Facebook. I was encouraged by several of the site members to ask for some donations to recoup the lost money I spent.
