2024 habe ich das Piano Duo Festival Berlin im Kühlspot Social Club initiiert. Mittlerweile sind wir ein kleines wachsendes Team mit dem gemeinsamen Wunsch, das Festival als erstes Festival für freie Klavierduo-Improvisation in Berlin zu etablieren.

Das Piano Duo Festival Berlin widmet sich der freien und experimentellen Improvisation an zwei Flügeln. Berliner und international eingeladene Pianist:innen begegnen sich in einer vom klassischen Konzertbetrieb abweichenden unkonventionellen Situation und führen ohne vorgegebene Stilistik einen musikalischen Dialog.

Das Festival soll einen Zugang für neue Interessent:innen schaffen und zugleich das beständige Publikum der klassischen, zeitgenössischen sowie der Jazz- und Improvisationsszene ansprechen.

Die dritte Ausgabe des Festivals findet am 4. und 5. November 2026 im exploratorium berlin statt. An beiden Abenden sind jeweils drei Duo-Sets geplant.

Ich sammle 800 €, um die Reisekosten der eingeladenen Pianist:innen zu finanzieren. Einen Teil dieser Kosten übernehme ich selbst, um den Musiker:innen frühzeitig finanzielle Sicherheit geben zu können. Alle weiteren Spenden fließen ausschließlich in faire Gagen für die zwölf Pianist:innen sowie in Klavierstimmungen.

In 2024, I initiated the Berlin Piano Duo Festival at Kühlspot Social Club. Since then, we have grown into a small team with the shared wish of establishing it as the first festival for free piano duo improvisation in Berlin.

The Berlin Piano Duo Festival is dedicated to free and experimental improvisation for two grand pianos. Berlin-based and internationally invited pianists meet in an unconventional setting that differs from the traditional concert format and engage in a musical dialogue without predetermined stylistic boundaries.

The festival aims to create access for new audiences while also bringing together the established audiences of classical, contemporary, jazz and improvised music.

The third edition of the festival will take place on 4 & 5 November 2026 at exploratorium berlin. Three piano duo sets are planned each evening.

I’m raising €800 to cover the travel costs of the invited pianists. I’m covering part of these costs myself to provide the musicians with financial security in advance. All additional donations will go exclusively towards fair fees for the twelve pianists and piano tuning.
