Help Raise Funds for Homeless Summer Survival Kits

Donation protected
Homelessness is a big problem in America, and is often ignored. I had 20 required hours of community service for my school, so I came to my church leader, to see if he had ideas for me to complete my hours. When he mentioned homelessness, I was skeptical. Homeless people are druggies and criminals, right? He recommended that I read a book called Under the Overpass, a real account of two christian students who stepped out of their comfortable life onto the streets, completely relying on God to provide for them every day and night. This book reminded me that the homeless are real people, with stories to tell. Many of the people in the book were abused as a child or grew up in a family full of drugs. Many of them also had mental disabilities that prevent them from getting a job. This truth inspired me to act more upon this matter, because I realized that anyone could fall onto the streets through unfortunate circumstances.

I’ve learned a lot through my research and completing my community service hours, so I’ve decided to try to raise money to make homeless survival kits for the summer in Phoenix, Arizona. The summer here is brutal and not fit to live in. Kits will include water, a toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, and other necessities for living in the 120 degree weather of an Arizona summertime.  My family and I will personally be delivering these care packages to local homeless people on our streets, any help is greatly appreciated.I’m hoping to raise $1000 for my cause.

Thanks!
Nathan
