Help provide water for Uswaumonye village
Donation protected
This is for my friend Prince Chabveka.
Hello everyone, I am writing to ask for your assistance to install a solar powered water pump for my village.
The current water state is unimaginable for drinking (see pictures above). Safe water provides a reliable sanitation service, proper hygiene, and a healthier lifestyle for individuals. Unfortunately, access to this basic necessity has not been available for some years now. The nearest source of relatively 'cleaner' water is a river which is 3km away. It is the same river people bathe in, livestock drink from, and gold panners look for gold. This predicament has disrupted the normal way of life in the following ways: Education, (Children must fetch water and this has disrupted their education), menstrual hygiene, food, and overall productivity.
With more than 250 days of sunshine, a solar powered water pump will ensure provision of clean water to Uswaumonye. Overall hygiene will dramatically improve. Additionally, rainfall is becoming more unpredictable with climate change. A solar pump will provide water all year and help with subsistence farming. If we reach our goal, we will install a 3 horse-powered pump with a 10000L tank. Any additional funds will be used to maintain this system. The end product is to look like the one below. Thank you!
