Hurricane Ian relief fund Ft Myers Beach

Donation protected
I began a fundraiser with something different in mind not realizing the needs. Originally for our business crew we have now changed our direction.
Since day 1 after the storm I began doing what I could to get things going for our business but soon realized that is a task with a heavy burden that will take a lot to overcome. Within days I met a wonderful group from Cortez Florida a Fishing community that went above and beyond my Wildest dreams. They came twice a week with 4 trucks of donations, sent trailer loads of donations from all areas of Florida Palm Beach & Miami and many others. They had churches and individuals bringing us goods to deliver. We also had ice delivered weekly. The group and I would go out several times a week to deliver 3 meals a day over 700 per day. Yes these amazing individuals drove 2 plus hours to help out Fort Myers Beach. They brought grills and a food truck to make everything hot and fresh. We would then drive around delivering food and in between stock our vehicles with much needed supplies everything from Socks and underwear to bedding towels air mattresses and even generators. Their kindness was so amazing. The owner of the building Also had a fundraiser to help support and purchase items raising over 15,000 in donated goods.
Now that things are looking brighter for some there is still a need for donated items. Bedding pots pans dishes silverware cups etc. I’m now on my own as many of those amazing people had to get back to their livelihoods for their needs are much as well and I will forever be grateful for everything they did.
As I work alone now it’s getting harder and harder to keep up. I make sandwiches or pick up food and have chips & gatorades water and sometimes a cold beer and wine oh and even milk for a few along with a truck full of items that they may need and paying out of my own pockets. I try to go twice a week and wish I could do more.
The beach is truly trying to come back to life as this is our season. It’s too unsafe for boating so doing this is my full time job between sorting purchasing and delivering its 5-7 days a week to make it happen.
I am happy to pick up items that anyone may wish to donate as long as there small as I’m using a smaller truck as my truck is broke down has been for 2 months but Mikes gets me where I need to go and has plenty of room inside just not a large bed.
All funds will be used to purchase needed items as I have began getting lists from individuals as time passes. Many of the Family’s I deliver to are retired and living on Social security 90% of them their homes were destroyed and the few that remain to rebuild as some were lucky enough to rent a trailer as fema isn’t able to bring them trailers due to being a flood zone. So any help I can give them is a relief and means for them to spend time and money getting their homes liveable again.
If you would like to donate goods call me at [phone redacted] or email me at [email redacted]
I do have a few people looking for furniture and will someday rent a trailer to pickup and or deliver.
Our hearts go out to everyone that this storm has affected as there are more than I can count. To all our Friends and Family including our Fishing Family we Thank you from the bottom of our Hearts for your continued Prayers, messages and calls. We love each and everyone of you! Our Sincerest appreciation for all that have helped us with getting donated items  and our Prayers continue for the road we have ahead Mike & Michele McQuinn
