Help Patana Beat His Battle Against Cancer
Beschermde donatie
Patana is a father to two girls Scarlett 4 and Stacey 3, he is also a wonderful husband to myself, Elizabeth. Our family has gone through many emotions in the past months and it has been hard to let everyone know what is happening and even more hard asking for help. My husband always helps anyone in need, be it a stranger on the side of the road or a family member in need of support. His supervisor at work had asked if we could make a Go Fund Me page as a way to receive support from work colleagues, friends, family and anyone who knows of our situation. We have always been a hardworking family and taking the time to fight this illness will create stress in more than one way in our family. My husband Patana has reluctantly given his okay for me to create this Go Fund Me to accept help from others and relieve stress from our small family.
Patana moved from New Zealand to Australia in 2006 and is from Maori descent. I met Patana in 2009 and by 2015 we were married and had our first daughter. In 2016 our second daughter joined our family and we have been working hard to provide and give our daughters the best life. Patana works as a truck driver for Suez for seven years and has always supported our family.
Unfortunately Patana was diagnosed mestatic paraganglioma, the primary cancerous tumour growing from the carotid artery in his neck. After many tests and PET scans we were informed that this cancer had spread to in his bones through his spine, shoulders and hips. This has shocked us and devastated our family in Australia and New Zealand. Our girls do not understand how Daddy is sick and are bewildered with all of Daddy’s appointments.
Patana has started his first session of treatment which will be to his primary cancer in the neck. He will then do another session of treatment to the many secondary cancers through his bones in his body. Because of the positions of the cancerous tumours, it has been decided not to operate as he would not have a quality of life, never eat, talk or move one side of his body again, due to the removal of many nerves that are connected to the primary cancer. He is undergoing targeted radiotherapy to his primary cancer which goes for roughly 6 weeks. If this is successful he will move on to being treated with LU177 for the many other cancerous tumours in his body.
We hope this donation page will give Patana the gift of time with his family and opportunities to reduce the financial burden that he will feel when he is undergoing treatment. I want Patana to receive the best treatment and not worry about how he will work and pay bills while he is fighting this horrible disease. He is currently undergoing radiotherapy for his primary cancer and updates will be available for the rest of his treatment.
Thank you for being part of this medical journey and we thank you for your support.
