Help our neighbors keep a roof over their heads
Hi - We're working to keep a (literal) roof over our neighbors' heads. Our condo association of 33 units recently learned we'd need a new roof -- at a total cost of over $350,000. Our close-knit community is a microcosm of Washington, DC, with a diverse mix of professionals, multi-generational households, retirees, and every imaginable type of family.
Part of the cost will be covered by our reserves, but given the high price-tag, each unit will also need to incur a special assessment ranging from $4K to more than $11K. Many in our association will be able to incur this financial burden. However, some of our longest term residents -- who are disproportionately older, women, and people of color -- are finding this extremely difficult, if not impossible. Unfortunately, neither the DC government nor insurance companies are able to substantially offset the expense for those families. So we're looking to you to help us~
All funds raised will be distributed equally among those who are unable to pay these costs otherwise. Any leftover funds will be donated to an organization in Washington, DC, that is similarly working to help DC serve its most vulnerable residents. Thank you for anything you can contribute!
