Help Our Mother, Michelle with Legal Fees & Bills

Hello everyone,

For those who don’t know me, my name is Lydia and I am my mother’s oldest daughter. Last October 2023, she told me that she would be leaving my father. This came a shock and yet was very understandable because growing up with my father, he was never very nice to my mom.

Since serving him papers we have moved her into a new space but because of the trauma she has experienced, she has been unable to work and has been on disability since March.

Now these disability claims are being denied because of inadequate information.

We are looking for help with rent, utilities, car, overdue bills and mounting legal fees. If you have met my mother than you know she is one of the most caring, thoughtful and supportive people. She would never ask for help so I’m hoping we can be there for her and show her how much we care.

Here is some of her story she’d like to share.

“I finally broke free of a 35-year marriage last October after suffering verbal abuse by a Narcissist who abused alcohol. I didn't know then that I was "abused" because I didn't have bruises or a black eye which is commonly understood as the DEFINITION of "abuse". I thought the things he said was because he had a bad day or just in a bad mood. I tried to leave him 2 or 3 times in the past, but he held the purse strings, and I was afraid I couldn't provide for my 3 children on my income. I only found the strength to leave after the emotional abuse became physical during an alcohol-induced rage last summer.” …

“The abuse has left me with PTSD, Anxiety with Panic Attacks and Executive Dysfunction. I had to take a leave of absence for my mental health in March because I can't focus or concentrate; this has been all-consuming in that I'm not able to function correctly because of the all-consuming thoughts and flashbacks. I am seeing my PCP and a Therapist. I'm on a battery of prescription medications for anxiety and sleep. When sleep comes, the nightmares result in waking to such anxiety that my body trembles and my mind is in survival mode of "Fight, flight, or freeze" that takes hours and lots of work by me before it settles to a more manageable level.

 

I've just learned that my disability claim was denied because of inadequate information which I am appealing. In the meantime, I have no income. I've depleted my 401(k) and sold everything of value. This fundraiser will help me with living expenses (rent, utilities, car, overdue bills, etc.) and the mounting legal fees needed to fight for what is mine.”
