Please Help our Friend Judy Betsina and Philip Joe Goulet

This is very difficult to reach out but this family in dire need of help. Judy Betsina from the Community of Ndilo and lives in Yellowknife was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019 in which she went through radiation treatment and surgery in hope to beat cancer and did very well and went into remission. The treatment took a toll on Judy making her feel sick and weak. During this time, she needed her common law Philip Joe Goulet and her son Fred who is 14 years old by her side. Philip Joe made the decision to leave Dominion Diamond Mine to support her.

This was a huge decision considering he is the sole provider and responsible for their livelihood. Having to work the rotational two week on and two weeks off was very difficult, and Judy needed his support at home and on her journey. Philip Joe started a small business called PJS Mechanical. The business allowed Philip and Judy to survive and live within their means. Philip is very thankful to everyone in the North for their ongoing support for his business services.

Judy began to struggle and felt ill during this past Christmas season 2021 in which she was admitted into the Yellowknife hospital in early January 2022 where it was found that her cancer returned and this time it’s Colon cancer possible of chances it could spread. It’s been an emotional roller coast. Judy and her family travelled to Edmonton for the screening and testing of her current state and it was found that she has stage 3 cancer.

She will have further five radiation treatments in March in Edmonton, And Chemotherapy will happen In Yellowknife. And hopefully surgery will follow sometime later in the fall. Philip Joe will now have to leave his business and be with her on her treatment journey which we all pray and hope she overcomes. This family is need of financial support to help them for the next months to allow some financial ease.

Once again, it’s hard for the family to reach out this way but they are great need of help. Any donation is welcome and will be greatly appreciated we hope to help ease their financial hardship during this time and spend quality family time together.
