Help our dear friend Dan Mecca

Our dear friend Dan Mecca needs our help. True to form, Dan's altruism and love of family remain steadfast. However, his care for others, specifically his mother, has landed Dan in a difficult situation. Over the past year Dan's mother required more care than he could afford. So Dan sacrificed his job to care for her. Later he had to sell his car. Then their home was forced into short sale, and the list goes on. With 99% of legal avenues exhausted and bills increasing, Dan is struggling. He is an only child whose father passed away years ago. In many ways the St. Luke’s family is Dan’s remaining family.
Thinking about my days at St. Luke’s, I know whenever anyone needed a friend Dan was there to help, whether that was a picture taken, a ride to or from school (or Vista), or any other form of assistance. Dan would always volunteer without reservation. Since his days as a student, Dan has supported and continues to support the St. Luke’s community by providing assistance to the St. Luke’s Arts department and WSLX radio station. He has always been a champion the school.
I recently had long conversation with Dan reminiscing about many lasting friendships which began at St. Luke's and continue to this day. And now I’ve started this funding drive to gather support to help give back to someone who has given so much. I’m reaching out to St. Luke’s alumni and asking for donations to help Dan get off to a new start. He needs assistance with a deposit for an apartment, transportation to visit his mother, help paying for basic living expenses and basic necessities, and job searching.
While Dan knows nothing of this secret effort on his behalf, I can assure you that your generous donations will be greatly and deeply appreciated. So please contribute what you can--and pass along word of our funding drive to others--and together we can help Dan at a time when he most needs the kind of the friendship and support that he has provided to others in the St. Luke’s community over the years.
