Emergency Relief for Mohand’s Family in Gaza: Food, Water & Medical Aid Needed

Hi, my name is Jori Smith (Chicago, IL) and I’m fundraising on behalf of Mohand, a general nurse and survivor of the devastating attacks in Gaza. Mohand is currently sheltering in Northern Gaza with his parents and three sisters, one of whom is blind and requires ongoing medical treatment. Mohand’s fourth sister, Nermeen, sadly died in November of 2024. The family is running out of food, water, and essential medicine.

Words from Mohand:

My name is Mohand. I am a general nurse, currently unemployed because of the war, and I’m doing everything I can to keep my family alive. We are trapped in Northern Gaza under constant threat. We’ve lost access to clean water, food is nearly impossible to find, and basic survival is a daily struggle.

I am here with my parents and two sisters. One of my sisters is blind, and we recently lost another beloved sister during this war. Our hearts are broken, and our spirits are exhausted.

We sleep to the sound of drones and wake up not knowing if we will see another day. The prices of flour, vegetables, and even firewood have become unimaginable. There is no electricity, no safety, and no peace.

I once had dreams of building a future, of serving people through nursing, but those dreams have been buried under the rubble of destruction. Now, my only dream is to keep my family alive.

Like any young man, I have goals and a desire to live, not only for myself, but also for my family, but the Israeli occupation has cast a shadow on our dream and hopes, making achieving our goals very difficult.

I ask you not to pay attention, to help with the least, and to support with everything possible, and to leave the Gaza Strip to safety, given the difficult circumstances, and not to leave. Travel costs per person are $5,000 to $7,000.

Our hope is to leave Gaza for the sake of security and peace, my future as a nurse, and the future of my family. My family consists of 7 people.
