Help Norrest fight for his life.

A 39-year-old father of a beautiful 4-year-old girl named Kendi, and a husband of 15 years to his beloved wife Candice, Norrest Rice, is the life of the party everywhere he goes. He lights up the room with jokes, makes people laugh with his outgoing personality, and loves to play basketball. But, Norrest Rice and his family need our help.

On March 20th, Norrest was admitted to the Lakeland Regional Health hospital with an infection in his chest port, which was used to administer dialysis. He has been on dialysis for the last year and a half due to stage five renal failure. He was given a port on his chest until they could get his fistula (port under his arm) to work. Unfortunately, the fistula was collapsing and didn't work. The port got infected and caused endocarditis, which has infected his heart valve. He will need heart surgery to replace the valve in the near future. Additionally, this infection turned into pneumonia and MDRO in his lungs, and sepsis emboli on both sides of his brain and hip joints. Norrest has been on life support since March 26th and is not responsive. At this point, doctors cannot track his eyes and cannot determine the brain damage the sepsis emboli has caused to his brain. He currently remains in the intensive care unit.

Norrest has run out of paid time off at his job, while Candice has had to take a leave of absence to be by her husband's side 24/7. The family has incurred very high medical bills for Norrest, and will need further help to pay for his open-heart surgery. Every little help the Rice family can get is greatly appreciated.
