HELP NIKO AND HER FIVE KIDS AVOID HOMELESSNESS
URGENT: Longtime Newport, RI community member Niko Merritt and her five children (Maliq, Gianna, Ian, Jayden, and Melani) are at risk of homelessness starting July 1st 2021, after her landlord sold her home of 12 years on just 30 days' notice.
My name is Georgia; I am a lifelong resident of RI and have organized with Niko at Sankofa Community Connection for over a year now. I can attest that she is one of the most smart, tireless and generous organizers I have ever worked with and is single-mindedly focused on helping give back to the Newport community, despite undergoing hardships of her own. If Niko and her kids are displaced from Newport it will be such a loss for the town, and a traumatic experience for the whole family after 12 years of living here. No one deserves to go through this.
All funds raised will go directly to Niko's family's housing needs. Anything over the goal will go to helping them get a car. If you can't give, please share. ANYTHING HELPS. Let's help this amazing woman and her family stay in the town she has invested so much time, care and love in. THANK YOU!
