Help Save the Newton Beer Festival – Support Our Community and Beyond
This year, just one day before the opening night of the Newton Beer Festival, the unthinkable happened – the hired marquee was deliberately slashed, beer lines were cut, beer was emptied onto the ground and all the electrical and plumbing was sabotaged. This senseless act of vandalism caused thousands of pounds worth of damage and jeopardised an event that takes months of volunteer planning and brings together our whole community.
Despite the setback, our amazing team pulled together and – with a lot of last-minute problem-solving – the festival went ahead. But the damage was done. Over £5,000 worth of beer was lost before a single glass was poured, and we’re still calculating the full impact of the incident.
While we do have insurance, large excesses and the complexity of the claim mean we can’t be certain what we’ll get back – or when. What we do know is that the financial blow will hit the Rotary Club hard.
Why It Matters
Every penny of profit from the Newton Beer Festival goes to good causes – not just locally, but nationally and internationally too. From supporting food banks, youth groups and health initiatives in Newton-le-Willows, to contributing to disaster relief, education and clean water projects around the world – the money raised through the festival makes a real difference to people's lives.
This isn’t just about a festival. It’s about the people it helps.
Without support, this year’s vandalism could make it impossible to hold the event again next year – and that would be a real loss for our town and for the many causes we support.
How You Can Help
We’re asking for your support to help us cover the unexpected costs and ensure the festival not only survives but comes back stronger in 2026. Whether you’re a festival regular, a local business, or someone who believes in supporting community-driven events that make a wider impact, every donation will help.
Thank you for standing with us.
