My name is Shawnell (Nell).

I went for my annual exam, which included a mammogram, last August. They saw something suspicious and wanted me to return for a second mammogram. I returned in September for the second one, and then a biopsy was ordered for October. In November, I had a lumpectomy, and the final results were DCIS/SITU Stage 0. It’s a non-invasive cancer, which is great. They recommended radiation and pills for 3 years. Unfortunately, I have other things going on, and the pills will interfere with that. There’s a chance that the cancer could return. I recently chose to have a double mastectomy, which is scheduled for February 26th. I will be out of work for 8 to 10 weeks. I just became permanent last October with MCPS, so unfortunately, I don’t have a lot of sick leave available. I am a very private person, and up until now, only a few people knew what I was dealing with. While I am off, the bills and rent still have to be paid. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
