Help Cody Get Urgent Dental Surgery
Hi, my name is Selena, and I’m asking for help for my dog, Cody.
Cody is a 12-year-old Chihuahua who has been my loyal companion for so many years. He’s truly part of my family, and I’ve always done everything I can to keep him healthy and cared for.
Lately, he’s been facing serious medical challenges. He has:
* A level 4 heart murmur
* A collapsed trachea
* Severe allergies, including past reactions to anesthesia
On top of that, his dental condition has become severe. He now has:
* Advanced periodontal disease
* Loose teeth
* Receding gums
Watching him try to eat while I know he’s in pain has been the hardest part. His breath has gotten really bad, and I worry every day about infection and how much discomfort he’s in. I just want him to be able to eat comfortably again and feel like himself.
Why This Is Complicated
Normally, a dental cleaning would help but Cody cannot safely undergo a routine procedure.
Because of his heart condition, collapsing trachea, and previous allergic reactions, he needs:
* A board-certified veterinary dental surgeon
* A specialized anesthesiologist
* Customized anesthesia protocols and close monitoring
This is the only way to safely treat him.
Cost & Why It’s So High
We received an estimate of up to $5,000 for the dental surgery alone due to the level of care and specialists required.
Before surgery, he also needs:
* Echocardiogram (ECHO) – to evaluate his heart
* EKG (ECG) – to check heart rhythm
* Bloodwork
These are required to make sure he can safely go under anesthesia.
The total cost is expected to be around $6,000–$7,000 or more depending on what is found during surgery, including extractions and monitoring.
Because of his medical complexity, there is also a possibility of:
* Additional extractions
* Extended anesthesia time
* ICU-level monitoring
* Post-operative care and medications
I set the goal at $10,000 to make sure Cody can receive all the care he needs safely, without delays or having to stop treatment due to cost.
Payment Transparency
The specialty clinic only accepts credit or debit card payments and does not allow direct donations or financing options like CareCredit.
Because of this, donations will go toward paying the clinic directly from my account.
I understand transparency is important, and I will:
* Share updates throughout his care
* Provide invoices/receipts when possible
About Cody
Cody is still so full of life. He eats, cuddles, and stays close to me but I can tell he’s struggling.
He’s been there for me through everything, and he deserves to be comfortable and pain-free in this stage of his life.
I also regularly help care for and support stray cats through TNR efforts, which has made this situation even more financially difficult but Cody is my baby, and I want to do everything I can for him.
If You Can Help
Any donation, no matter how small, would mean everything to us.
If you’re not able to donate, sharing this page helps more than you know.
Thank you for taking the time to read Cody’s story and for helping give him a chance to feel better again.
