Help My Mom Through Cancer — And Support Our Family Through a Sudden Medical Crisis

Hey everybody, my name is Chris, and I’m raising funds for my mom, Christina, who was recently diagnosed with Stage IB, Grade 3 endometrial cancer which is an aggressive form of uterine cancer that we did not see coming at all.

She’s only 58 years old and we want more time with her as well as her with us. My mom to me is the most kind, selfless, & wonderful mother ever and the center of our family’s world, . A few weeks ago, she underwent major surgery to remove her uterus, ovaries, and lymph nodes. While we were hopeful the surgery would be enough, the final pathology showed high-risk features, which now means she’ll likely need chemotherapy ASAP to help prevent recurrence.

We’ve barely had time to process the emotional weight of that news — and then life threw another curveball.

A Sudden Emergency, On My Birthday

Today (July 4) is my birthday. And instead of celebrating, I am working up the nerve to draft up this GoFundMe while in the emergency room at 2 am with my stepdad, who suddenly fainted, fell, and hit his head leading to a major bleed. He’s been admitted to the hospital and is now under observation. We’re doing our best to stay hopeful, but this was completely unexpected and the timing couldn’t be more overwhelming.

We’re now dealing with two major medical battles at once. My mom’s cancer. My stepdad’s emergency hospitalization. And I’m doing my best to be the caregiver, the advocate, and the steady support in the middle of it all.

To be honest, it’s been one of the hardest and most emotionally draining moments of my life. The cherry on top of all of my other personal endeavors.

Why This Is So Hard to Write

If you know me, you know I’m extremely private. I don’t talk much about my personal life, and I hate asking for help — let alone creating something like a GoFundMe. This has taken me a lot of back-and-forth, and a lot of swallowing my pride.

But right now, we really need help. Financially, emotionally, logistically — it’s all piling up fast.
