My Disabled, Homeless Dad Needs A Winter Camper

My father, Mike Picard, is a loving man with a kind heart, and if you know him you know how he lights up a room with his smile, natural charm, and genuine compassion for those around him.
And right now, he needs your help.
Last fall Mike had surgery on his foot to remove an ulcer, starting him down a long road of recovery and months of uncertain income via disability checks. Recently, his foot became infected, which put him back on disability as he's unable to work while his foot heals. Because of his health and difficult financial situation, he has had a difficult time securing housing, and is currently living in his van. He has found a good campsite that suits his needs and is affordable on his current disability pay, but winters in Vermont are harsh and he needs something better to keep him safe during the cold months to come. A small camper could give him that safety and security while his foot heals, allowing him to return to work, and a chance to get his head back above water.
My husband and I have been stationed overseas the past few years and while I do my best to support my dad, I could really use the help of both caring friends and generous strangers alike to keep him afloat until we return to the states to help him more directly. My dad has always been there for me, and truly means the world to me. I am extremely grateful that you've visited this fundraiser, and I hope that, if you are able, you'll lend a hand in giving a kind old man a safer, warmer place to rest his head.
