Help Mrs.Dottie Find A Home

This is Mrs. Dottie. She lives at the end of my street and has been there for 23 years. She has created a large garden surrounding her entire house. Some of what she has planted, like the magnolia trees, have been there for as long as she has. She is a guardian angel within our community, leaving out clothes and food for the homeless, feeding the stray cats, and is a nurse assisting the elderly. Whenever she sees someone is in need, she will help them even at her own expense. She has touched my own life in particular by trading art books and kind words when I walk my dog past her house.

Sadly, her house that she has made a beautiful home out of and put over 23 years of work into, is falling apart. Her landlord has recently passed away and left her house to his children, who refuse to make the repairs, raised the rent by over half, and are now evicting her, forcing her to be out by July 15. Now she is forced to leave her home of 20 years to find another and has only a month to gather her entire life together and move. This is the PRIME example of gentrification. She is looking for a new place with the hope that she may own her own home but, with such short notice, she has had no time to financially prepare. 

I want to take advantage of this time and help a woman who for so long has helped her community and deserves much more than what she has been dealt. I want to raise $50,000 for this amazing woman so that she may find a new place worthy of her and her family. I know that this is a very large goal but, I truly believe we can make it happen.  Let's do something worthy and direct in our own community!!! Help Mrs. Dottie and donate now!
