Hello friends! I'm raising money to move a piano into my new home in Chicago. This wasn't in my plans! It's a big change quickly, and I'm raising funds so that I can pay for the instrument and also make the rent this month, along with the other expenses of moving.

Last week I moved into a new spot in the Hyde Park, and a couple days later came across this instrument for $100 at an estate sale around the corner. These instruments are not often in such good shape. I was surprised, it needs some work but overall is in really lovely condition. It's one of my favorite kinds of pianos, delicate, brittle, and warm. I told myself that if it was still there in the morning, it was meant for me and I would go for it, even though $100 was right at the edge of what I had in the bank. And it was!

I now need to figure out how to have it professionally moved in the next 2-5 days. The move will cost $700, and I'd like to budget extra because it's coming up and down stairs. I would also like to hire a piano tech to give it some needed tuning and care, and an adjustable bench. Any funds beyond this will go to rent for this month, which I'm also working on putting together.

I am a professional singer and pianist, and it has been about five years since I had an instrument in my home. I've also been sometimes uprooted, and haven't felt grounded enough to invest in a piano where I was living. So this is a noteworthy change! It will mean I can do more ~ teach more students and share more music from a grounded home base. I appreciate your support ✨
