Help Michael assist his Mom with his Dad's funeral expenses

Donation protected
I know how much need there is in the world right now and although reluctant to add to the voices have decided to go ahead and reach out to help my mom.

My stepdad, Allen, who raised me, died suddenly on Thursday and my mom has been caught unprepared to pay for the funeral expenses. Carey and I are doing all we can but find ourselves in need of help in order to help them. We are grateful for anything at all you can offer including your prayers and good thoughts for the family as we find our way in his absence.

His obituary is below, I wish you could have known him, he was a good man and I’m working to continue to grow in his quiet example.

Allen Heberling, devoted father and loving husband, died on January 16th at Wise Hospital in Decatur surrounded by his family after a brief battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by parents Warren and Lillian and daughter Amy. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Dana and 4 sons, Michael Huftile and his wife Carey, Robert Huftile, Ethan Heberling, Allen Heberling Jr, 4 grandchildren, Nathan, Gunner, Laken, and Danny, sister Lori and cousin Patty Lynn. Allen was not unfamiliar with a fight. A proud Navy Veteran, he saw active duty and served on the USS John F Kennedy. After his honorable discharge he used his extraordinary skills as an electrician and mechanic in a number of jobs before settling at Lockheed Martin where he worked on fighter jets for 32 years until his retirement in 2018. He also served as a Hazmat Responder. It was said of him by his co-workers that “Big Al” was the man to go to if you had a question about an F-16. Born in Dallas on September 28th, 1952 he moved with his wife Dana to their own plot of land in Sunset where they built their dream log cabin and settled into retirement together. Allen’s great love for his children and wife had him saying “Yes, Mother” and showing up to all manner of activities that his boys and grandkids participated in; from school plays to sports, he was there. Allen was also the man to call whenever something needed fixing. He could build and put together anything at all and if he didn’t already know how to do it you could be sure he would learn. Along with his hobbies he and Dana mostly enjoyed their time together in their cabin in Sunset, fostering a rotating pack of rescue dogs, cats, and whatever wildlife made it to their acres. The deer, the birds, and the squirrels also ate like kings. He was a shining example of humility, hard work, and dedication to his loved ones and he will be sorely missed. His life and memory will be honored in a private family gathering.
